City Lake Falls in Cookeville, TN is a short hike in what amounts to a city park to reach a waterfall. I arrived at the namesake “City Lake” and a little public parking area. A few ducks were hanging out nearby. Happily this location is very close to an Interstate 40 exit so not hard to get to. Anyway I think it took maybe 15 minutes of slow happy wandering and really easy hiking conditions (normal tennis shoes were fine) to reach the falls. This isn’t the largest falls ever, if memory serves maybe 20 feet high at best, but for the low effort it took this was a great place to stop. I observed many locals walking their dogs here, so it is likely popular and part of the daily routine for the folks of Cookeville.
