Cold Water Falls is located in Tuscumbia, AL. According to a sign near it, it is the “World’s Largest Man Made Natural Stone Waterfall to be known in existence.” It is 80 feet wide, 48 feet tall, contains 1780 tons of sandstone, etc. Built as the main attraction in what is now Tuscumbia Spring Park, Cold Water Falls water comes from the Tuscumbia Big Spring which averages a daily flow of 35,000,000 gallons daily! So this is a man made waterfall, but fed from a natural local source, which frankly has impressive numbers and makes it a worthy spectacle. As if that isn’t enough this town is also the birth place of Helen Keller. So there are plenty of reasons people end up visiting here. Otherwise this is just a basic city park, so expect as much.
Worth noting is that just about every search for this online is going to show you the name is “Coldwater Falls” where “coldwater” is one word. But the official plaque which I’ve got a picture of here shows it is “Cold Water Falls”, where “cold water” is two words. That’s just a note for anyone who’s particular about these things. Also if you’re seeing Cold Water Falls, then you’re not far from Wilson Dam Waterfall, so maybe check that out while in the area.
