Suwannee River State Park is located at 3631 201st Path, Live Oak, FL 32060. If you’re like me and live in the Florida Panhandle then it is just a little road trip away to reach this state park. It offers campsites, rental cabins, access to the Suwannee River, a few landmarks and several small trails, many of which either connect to each other directly or via access roads. This park is hike worthy, because you can combine all the small trails and there’s a larger trail adjacent to it that is part of the Florida National Scenic Trail. I have done the small trails, but have yet to do the larger one so won’t ramble about it just yet.
The camping is like most Florida State Parks with tent or RV spots. The cabins look awesome and are on my future to try list. You can put into the river here and kayak, canoe, fish or whatever. There’s even a spring call Little Gem Spring that feeds into the river on one of the short trails.
The trails break down as follows:
- Earthworks Trail = .25 miles
- Suwannee River Trail = .7 miles
- Lime Sink Run Trail = .75 miles
- Sandhill Trail = .8 miles
- Balanced Rock Trail = 3 miles
- Big Oak Trail = 12.5 miles (NFST connection).
