Microfiber Towels

Over time I’ve had to look at what kind of volume I pack for a camping trip, what can be reduced to save space, or is redundant.  Initially I set out let us say on trips to a lot of state parks where there would be traditional bathrooms with showers, and of course I’d drag a bath towel from home.  Probably more than one.  This sucks up a lot of space in the car!  So I skeptically tried bringing a microfiber towel instead at some point and here are my thoughts now:

  1.  They dry me off just as effectively.
  2.  They dry out usually within just a few hours of being used, which a normal towel could not.
  3.   I can take two microfiber towels coming in at less than 5% of the space it cost me to take a single normal towel.  This is the true win.
  4.   I can throw one in my hiking pack in case I’m jumping in the water while adventuring, which I would not have tried at all with a normal towel.
  5.  They’re pretty cheap and many companies make them, and the major players that make them for sports and camping and whatnot all have similar products so it would be hard to go wrong as far as I can tell.  I’m not going to list off the brand I’ve bought a few of now, because it shouldn’t be necessary.  Just try one from any company and consider my list of reasons here.
  6.  They go into the washing machine at home and hang dry, no problem.  Then pack away also not consuming much space until the next adventure.  So you can forget them when not in use.
